LA punks Bad Cop/Bad Cop are following their 2015 debut Not Sorry with a new album, Warriors, next week (6/16) on Fat Wreck Chords (pre-order). They made it with longtime collaborator and producer Davey Warsop, it was mixed and mastered by Bill Stevenson’s studio partner Jason Livermore (who works with NOFX, Descendents, The Bouncing Souls, Hot Water Music, and tons of other bands), and like on their debut, NOFX frontman (and Fat Wreck Chords label head) Fat Mike chimed in with ideas. Talking about the new album, co-vocalist Stacey Dee said:
The election made a real big impact on us. We were really hurt and really sad. It felt like we needed to take a stand and say something. I had never really dug into anything super-serious about fairness, equality or justice in my songwriting before. When my bandmates and I got a chance to rebuild together following my fall, it was all about honesty, celebrating our differences and letting our power come together naturally.
We’re premiering the album’s newest single, “Retrograde,” which is sort of finds the middle ground between classic SoCal punk and more anthemic alternative rock, all while packing a nice dose of melodic aggression. It’s good stuff, and you can check it out below.
Bad Cop/Bad Cop are going on Warped Tour this year, along with GWAR, Sick of It All, Municipal Waste, The Alarm, TSOL, Adolescents, War On Women, Candiria, Hatebreed, Anti-Flag, Strung Out, Valient Thorr, and more.
